Overview
Now virtually any software can be used to
create a Home Page. Software today is capable of creating
interactive Web sites, but are you? Are you going to put
the same old boring presentations up on the Web that are
shown in your office? This tutorial will teach you how to
develop more interesting presentations with multimedia
features that are Net-ready.
Many times when giving a seminar at a large
corporation, I find that the users of the software have
no idea of its capabilities. I find that basic concepts,
such as text styles in a word processor, are not used let
alone understood. Also, I find that many concepts and
techniques are shared between different types of software
but that the users have missed this fact. For example,
everyone knows how to select text in a word processing
program. Did you realize that virtually every software
application with text uses the same drag and swipe
technique? Of course you did, but have you tried
techniques learned in one program on another? There are
so many shared techniques and concepts that you really
know a minimum of 25% of any software application you
open. To open a program, use the menu bar and go to File,
Open. To Cut, Copy or Paste use the Edit menu. To change
the look of an object use the Format menu. To save a
program use the menu bar and go to File, Save. Get the
picture now? You are never starting from scratch when you
open a new software package. So to learn how to design a
Web page, we need to pull together all the varied skills
youve learned to date on other software
applications! We will use common off-the-shelf
applications. And remember, even though I may not be
using your application, the techniques are the
same or similar.
At the end of this document you will find Net terms
defined along with a list of plug-ins and helpful Web
sites.
