GIF Animation Pros
GIF animations are easy to create and may be see by most if not all browsers.
- Most paint or video editing applications can create GIF animations
- Use an animated GIF instead of and AVI to cut the file's size in half
- GIF animation stream automatically--unlike and AVI file which must load fully before it begins to play
- More browsers support animated GIFs than AVIs.

As simple as GIF files are to create they do have their limitations
- GIF animations are limited to 256 colors
- Complex animations take a long time to load. Use a few frames and loop them.

- One of the best and least expensive GIF animators with a broad feature set and intuitive interface. Powerful color control allows you to construct animations either from multiple GIF images, by color cycling or by using a variety of built-in transitional effects.

- Pedagoguery Software - Gif-gIf-giF
- Gif-gIf-giF is a simple program for quickly making animated GIFs from screen captures. Software developers can use Gif-gIf-giF to show off their products on the web. Animations are viewable with Netscape Navigator 2 and the Macintosh version of Microsoft Internet Explorer without add-ons, plug-ins, or helper applications.

- Macromedia Flash 2
- Macromedia Flash 2 provides Web page designers with a method for animating freehand drawings and clipart. Use both vector and raster graphics and apply animation cel by cel or with tweening. The Shockwave Flash plug-in is necessary for viewing.
